What's in vape oil? Most vape products fall into two broad categories: distillate and live resin (or full-spectrum extract). Distillate is a highly refined oil with high THC potency but fewer of the minor cannabinoids and terpenes present in raw flower. Live resin oil is extracted from freshly frozen cannabis plants and retains more of the plant's original terpene profile, which many consumers feel produces a more nuanced effect. Live resin vapes typically cost more but are preferred by experienced consumers who want flavor and a fuller experience.
Understanding Prerolls: Singles, Infused, and Packs

Multipacks offer a more economical way to buy prerolls if you consume regularly. A 5-pack of .5g prerolls, for example, often costs less per gram than buying five individual prerolls. Great if you've found a brand or strain you enjoy.
Minis and half-grams are worth knowing about if you're newer to smoking or prefer a shorter session. A half-gram preroll burns in 10–15 minutes and is plenty for most consumers, especially if tolerance is lower.
Onset Time and Duration
Both vapes and prerolls offer relatively fast onset compared to edibles — you'll generally feel effects within minutes. But there are some nuances worth understanding.
Vapes tend to deliver effects within 2–5 minutes of inhalation. The onset is clean and predictable, and many consumers find vapes easier to dose incrementally — take a puff, wait a few minutes, assess how you feel, and decide whether to take another.
Prerolls have a similar onset window, but the experience of smoking a full joint is inherently more of a session. Once you light it, you're committed to that amount of time (unless you put it out and save the rest for later, which is perfectly fine). If you love the ritual: Prerolls. There's something about the act of lighting a joint, watching the cherry glow, and sharing a smoke (where legal and permitted) that vaping simply doesn't replicate. If that experience matters to you, no amount of convenience will replace it.
If you're trying to manage your budget: Standard prerolls offer the best gram-for-dollar value in most cases. A quality 1g preroll from a reputable Minnesota cultivator will typically run you less per gram than an equivalent amount of vape oil.
